Hiking the Great Divide

To capture images for the Summer 2012 feature article “All together on the Great Divide,” Nelson-based photographer David R. Gluns revisited portions of the Great Divide wilderness trail in Kootenay National Park three times, dedicating 15 days to the task. On one of the trips he joined writer Andrew Findlay and his family as they traversed the route in homage to Findlay’s late father. They were dogged by freezing temperatures and stormy skies but Gluns’s persistence paid off; here is just a small sampling of the incredible imagery he boot-packed out of the park.
