Paddling Nanika-Kidprice canoe chain

When not devoting his time to extensively photographing the Cariboo Chilcotin region, Chris Harris can often be found in a canoe. He is a certified instructor and has been guiding trips in B.C. for 35 years, often on the famed Bowron Lake circuit. (He released a new edition of his popular book The Bowron Lake: British Columbia’s Wilderness Canoe Circuit – A Lifetime Journey and a guide book called The Bowron Lakes: A Guide to Paddling British Columbia’s Wilderness Canoe Circuit in 2006.)

For the Spring 2013 issue of British Columbia Magazine Harris ventured to a pristine chain of northern lakes largely contained within Nenikëkh/Nanika-Kidprice Provincial Park. Compared to Bowron Lake the route was “More remote, more rugged, but equally beautiful,” he says. See “Sweet isolation” for writer Larry Pynn’s account of the memorable voyage.
